Pottery School Mission

• Provide a fully equipped clay studio which is financially accessible to the general public.

• Foster a physically and emotionally safe learning environment where anyone can explore her/his artistic talents.

• Facilitate a self-paced creative process for the student and offer guidance on manifesting his/her vision (rather than continually offer ideas for projects).

• Offer tools and techniques, realizing that the clay is the real teacher.

• Offer support as the clay teaches patience and detachment (among other life lessons).

• Educate on the virtues of process vs. product (the journey's the thing).

• Reinforce a perception of students as artists.

• Explore and share in the process of pottery as a life metaphor.

• Expand our own education through the teaching experience.
